New studio at home

What a busy summer! It seems that between building the new home studio, working at Wildflower and Motherhood I have not been able to update this blog... However, quite unexpectedly tonight I find myself alone in the house, a nice cold Corona in my hand, listening to the mellow tunes of Jack Johnson and enjoying a slice of time to pluck away at this computer.

My home studio is officially operational - did my first bisque firing last night and it was a great success. I must say, I am loving my new space - my concentration is unbroken and the creativity just comes easier. The only problem: loosing track of time and staying there until the wee hours. I'll have to get an alarm clock to remind me to go to bed!

These works are still in the wet stage but I am happy with where they are going. I'll post them again when they have been glaze fired.

Hope you have enjoyed my lates works created in my new space. These photos are "on the fly" as the work seems to leave my hands before I get a chance to take properly lit pictures of them... hope you enjoy them anyways. :)

New gallery representation

Good news! I am honored to announce that as of this month my work is represented by two new galleries. You can find a selection of sculptural and functional work in Edmonton at the Alberta Craft Council. A wider selection of sculptural vessels can be found in Waterton Park at Gust Gallery. I am looking forward to building a positive relationship with both of these reputable establishments.

And now... as promised... FUNCTION:

New works - Winter 2011

Alright, I admit it... I have been blogger negligent. With good reason! I've been busy in studio creating many new peices featuring, of course, many more hares (and other well rounded North American critters). I feel compelled to lend voice to my quirky little long eared friends for a few reasons. For starters, it's the year of the Rabbit - which, incidentally, is good for me seeing as I was born in the year of the "Wood Rabbit" - inquisitive, compassionate, creative and of course, (without need of a severed foot) lucky. My daughter bunks with a silly little rabbit by the name of Lilac. She's always giving me inspiration for poses by twisting herself up into bizarre contortions. Check out the peice entitled "Disoriented" - a definite portrait of our family pet.
I am hoping to find this new series of pots a temporary gallery home shortly... I'll keep you posted. In the meantime however, I'd love to visit with you at the Mad Potter's sale next month - featuring the works of five Calgary potters. Find more info under Upcoming Sales and Exhibitions!
